I did look in the BIOS, and didn't see any setting for enabling or turning on the backlight either just in case. The part I'm getting confused about is that the diagram lists callout 4 as the backlight cable, but I've got something plugged in there. I did pop the back off of this one, and when it looks like the one in the diagram, I've got cables in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th spots from left to right (indicated as 2,1,3,4 on the diagram). On pages 20-21, it talks about the keyboard. I've been looking at the manual for it at I think it might be right, but I haven't been able to find a listing of compatible part numbers for this model yet. Answer (1 of 2): Ultimately virtually ANYTHING is possible if you have the right skills But to do it, you would have to find a power source from within the laptop that could power the backlighting circuitry. I'm looking to see if it might be possible to get a backlit keyboard for them.ĭoing some research, I see a possible part number from Dell of 383D7, but I haven't been able to fully confirm that's the right part for a backlit one for this model. We got a decent deal on a few open-box Dell Precision 3520 laptops.
